New posted listings for homes in Saint Paul, Minnesota, decreased during November according to the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors’ Market Update for 100 Twin Cities Communities. Throughout the month, there were 398 new listings in St. Paul. In the previous year, there were 481 new listings during November. That is a -17.3% reduction in new listings, comparatively. The only neighborhoods of St. Paul which saw increases in posted new listings of homes for sale were Phalen and Merriam Park. A drop off in new listings is to be expected now and over the next few months as the winter season really starts kicking up snow.

The season of Snow Emergencies has started! After 9:00 PM on days like tonight, where several inches of snow have fallen, St. Paul officials are sticklers when it comes to clearing the roads quickly. This tends to result in hundreds of vehicles being towed to the impound lot and it costs nearly $300 to get your car back. In these rough economic times, that money could be used for other things.
If you’re a Saint Paul resident and you’ve been expecting a phone call to let you know that you need to move your car, it’s never going to come. St. Paul has canceled the Code Red automated system that would call residents to notify them of snow emergencies.

Penfield in Saint Paul Back on the Table

Earlier this year in July, I wrote a post about how due to a decline the condo market, the Pennfield condominiums expected to be developed at 100 E. 11th Street had been canceled. Now, new plans for the Pennfield site in Saint Paul have been given preliminary approval by the city. Instead of a $131 million dollar, 313-unit condo tower, it will now be an $88 million mixed-use project that includes 208 upscale apartments, a 170-room hotel, and a Lund’s full-service supermarket.
Construction is slated to begin in 2009, with the store to be completed by late 2010 and that the hotel and apartments to be finished in late 2011. The Lund’s supermarket is of particular importance to the downtown Saint Paul neighborhood. Once completed, the 30,000-square-foot…
