Hudson Wisconsin Information
Hudson is a city of about 11,300 people in St. Croix County, Wisconsin. Located between the beautiful St. Croix River and the bluffs of western Wisconsin, the City of Hudson is about 20 minutes east of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.
When the area was first settled in 1840 it was known as Willow River. That was up until about 1848 when the name was changed to Buena Vista, which means "beautiful view." In 1852, Buena Vista's first Mayor petitioned to change the name of the city to Hudson, because the St. Croix reminded him of the Hudson River in New York.
The St. Croix, recognized as one of the most beautiful rivers in the U.S., was designated by Congress as a protected scenic river way in 1974, which will preserve the beauty of its shores for future generations to appreciate.
Though the city is growing quite rapidly, Hudson and its friendly residents are adapting well, blending new developments and subdivisions with historic architectural gems. The scenic surroundings, modern conveniences, and a broad parks and recreation system combine to make real estate in Hudson WI the ideal mix of hometown charm and new real estate possibilities.
