West Saint Paul is a city in Dakota County, Minnesota. Contrary to its name, West St. Paul is located immediately south of the city of Saint Paul. The name comes from two places. First, the city is on the "west" bank of the Mississippi River. Second, the City of West St. Paul was created when it chose to split off from the western half of South St. Paul.West St. Paul offers a peaceful and scenic natural atmosphere, while at simultaneously offering easy access to the diverse amenities of the nearby larger cities. The green spaces and lakes are just minutes from a variety of retail options, restaurants, theaters, and educational institutions. Additionally, West Saint Paul has many options for outdoor recreation. This city maintains 14 parks, a municipal golf course, an ice arena, and an activity swimming pool for its residents. Dodge Nature Center, Southview Country Club, and Thompson County Park can all be found in West St. Paul.
