The neighborhood of Ericsson is located in the southeast Nokomis Community of Minneapolis. It is surrounded by 42nd Street, 43rd Street, Hiawatha Avenue, Minnehaha Parkway and Cedar Avenue on the west. It is named after John Ericsson, a Swedish engineer who designed and built the U.S.S. Monitor for the U.S. Navy during the Civil War.
Ericsson is a largely residential neighborhood with mostly single-family housing. The western portion of the neighborhood is made up of mostly recreational land, another huge plus to residents.
