Keewaydin Minneapolis Real Estate
Keewaydin is a neighborhood on the south side of Minneapolis in the Nokomis Community. The other members are: Morris Park, Minnehaha and Wennonah. Its boundaries are Minnehaha Parkway, Cedar Avenue South, 54th Street East and 34th Avenue South. Keewaydin is named for part of the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem, “The Song of Hiawatha.” Keewaydin means “northwest wind,” or “the home wind” in Ojibwe.
The Keewaydin neighborhood’s population is young, with a high proportion of residents in the 25-44 year age range. Many of these are young business professionals who work in the city, specifically the downtown area.
The streets here are lined with trees that add beauty to the quaint homes that make up the Keewaydin neighborhood. The homes here vary in architectural style, with the majority of the homes being Ranch style, Bungalow style or Mini Tudor style. Keewaydin is a great area to call home and offers residents a great community with access to all Minneapolis has to offer.

Young families and single professionals make up much of the population here, though there are many seniors and children under the age of 18. Keewaydin Park and Lake Nokomis offer many recreational opportunities for residents, including softball and baseball fields, basketball courts, soccer fields, a wading pool and tot lot, picnic areas and a walking path. The Nokomis Lake recreation area includes facilities for sailing. The Recreation Center offers a full menu of activities, including arts and crafts programs, fitness lessons and community meeting rooms.
