Near North Minneapolis Real Estate

The Minneapolis neighborhood of Near North is positioned in the northwest quadrant of the city within the greater Near North Community. The neighborhood is surrounded by the Mississippi River, Penn Avenue, West Broadway Avenue, Olson Memorial Highway and 11th Avenue North. It gets its name from its northerly location within Minneapolis.

This mostly residential neighborhood is a great place to call home. This diverse and active community prides themselves on maintaining the area they call home. Near North has acres of gorgeous parkland that offers residents ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. One of the most popular parks in the area is the North Commons; the Mississippi River also is a popular spot in the warmer months.

The area is also home to the Old Highland community, an area which features historic homes constructed in the late 19th century. There are many beautiful, large Victorian Queen Anne homes. While those homes are the unique featured properties, the other architectural styles here include Bungalow, Craftsman and an assortment of other styles.

Near North is home to just over 6,000 residents and has more families living here than many of the other neighborhoods in Minneapolis. Several industries are located along the banks of the river. Near North is home to several historical landmarks, including the Sumner Community Library, which opened in 1915.
